- The contributions she made to women's sports and well-being during her 40 years at UC are immeasurable.
- Came to UC in 1922 as an instructor in health and physical education, rising to the rank of assistant professor in 1923 and associate professor in 1926.
- For much of her tenure, she served essentially as the athletics director for the women's sports program, which was operated on a philosophy of broad-based participation.
- Organized the first certified health education courts of studies at UC.
- The Helen Norman Smith Award, annually honoring the top female senior student-athlete at UC, is named in her honor.
- UC Athletic Hall of Fame 1979.
