Cincinnati was well-represented in the 2000 NBA Draft when Kenyon Martin was the first player taken in the selections. Martin become the first and only other Bearcat since Oscar Robertson in 1960 to be the No. 1 pick of the entire draft. Martin was taken by the New Jersey Nets.
The selection of DerMarr Johnson by the Atlanta Hawks with the No. 6 pick of gave Cincinnati the highest draft duo in the history of the draft.
Pete Mickeal was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the 58th, and last, pick of the draft. It marked only the second time in UC history that three players were drafted.
