Luse Earns First Annual Jean Stephens Memorial Award

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- University of Cincinnati women's soccer player Nicole Luse(Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) has been named the first annual recipient of the Jean Stephens Memorial Award presented to a UC student-athlete that best exemplifies integrity, commitment to the team, athletic department and equitable treatment of others.
The award was presented by Director of Athletics Bob Goin to Luse at halftime of the men's basketball game against Marquette on Feb. 18. The award is named after Jean Stephens, 15-year member of the Department of Athletics family, who passed away in 1999.
Luse was chosen among 15 candidates from every sport that were nominated by coaches, administrators and staff members based on several specific criteria.
The recipient of the award is chosen by a selection committee composed of faculty, staff, a student and Sue Stephens, sister of Jean. Luse's name will be added to a plaque that will be permanently displayed in the department. The award recipient's name will be added for each year.
