CINCINNATI, Ohio- Senior rower Jennifer Rahe (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) was one of 11 student-athletes named to the Verizon Academic All-District IV second team as selected in voting by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The honor is the first for Rahe and the Bearcat rowing team, which just wrapped up its first year at the varsity level.
Rahe, who carries a 3.87 grade point average, will graduate this spring with a degree in marketing. A member of the club rowing team for three years, Rahe competed in all eight races this spring in the Second Varsity Eight boat. With Rahe in the seven seat, UC took home four first-place finishes and never finished lower than fifth place. The crew also defeated three nationally-ranked teams during the season.
Rahe is a two-time Topcat Scholar for maintaining a GPA between 3.50-4.00 and was named to UC's Fall Quarter Academic Wall of Fame for having the crew's highest GPA.
The Verizon Academic All-District Team is a part of the Verizon Academic All-America program. The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, and must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.
