CINCINNATI, Ohio--The University of Cincinnati had four student-athletes win Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades for their respective sports, the most out of any league school.


C-USA Scholar Athletes of the Year awards are presented to the top student-athlete in each conference-sponsored sport. The honor is based on academic achievement (grade point averages), athletic achievement and service.


The men?s soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year award went to senior Ryan Schreck (Flower Mound, Texas/Marcus). A psychology major, Schreck has accumulated a 3.20 GPA. This past season, Schreck served as a team co-captain as he earned first team all-Conference USA honors.


Matt Singer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Purcell Marian) was the recipient of this year?s award for baseball players. The senior, who patrolled left field for the Bearcats, carries a 3.44 GPA in political science. A four-year letterwinner, Singer is the first UC player to earn first team all-league honors three straight years. He also was named the team co-captain three straight years and holds career records in hits (316), doubles (72) and RBI (239).


Senior Brad Wilder won the same honor for men?s golf. A native of Park Hills, Ky., Wilder maintains a 3.41 GPA in business. Wilder played in 11 tournaments this year, finishing third on the team in stroke average (76.5).


Rounding out the Bearcats? award recipients is P.J Ball (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley), a member of the track and field team. A distance runner and provisional NCAA steeplechase qualifier, Ball holds a 3.92 GPA in her first year towards earning her Master?s of Education in Biochemistry.
