Nate Bouldin Earned C-USA Pitcher of the Week Honors Monday |
CINCINNATI, Ohio---Senior Nate Bouldin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Norwood/Southeastern Illinois CC) punctuated a great first start on the mound as a Bearcat by winning the first Conference USA Pitcher of the Week award of the year.
After spending last season as the Bearcats? closer, Bouldin moved into the starting rotation for 2003 and responded in his first starting assignment by combining with Rob Reel (Huron, Ohio/Northville) for a five-hit shutout of Duke to pick up his first win of the season. Bouldin allowed just five hits and hit two batters, while walking none and striking out five in seven and a third innings on the mound in Cincinnati?s 8-0 win.
Bouldin and the Bearcats (1-2) return to action this weekend with a four-game series at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m., with a 12 p.m. Saturday doubleheader and a 2 p.m. Sunday matchup also on tap.
