Sophomore Allison Couch is just one stroke off the lead after one day at the Bronco Invitational.

PORTAGE, Mich.---Sophomore Allison Couch (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) is tied for second, just one stroke out of first place after day one of the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan.

Couch fired a first round 75 to help the Bearcats to a third place slot in the team standings after 18 holes. She is tied with Western Michigan?s Erica Bieniek, one shot behind Bowling Green?s Shelley Binzel.

The host Broncos hold the top spot in the team standings with a 314. Grand Valley State is second at 324, three strokes ahead of the Bearcats.

Two other Cincinnati players find themselves in the top 20, as senior Andrea Williams (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) is tied for 13th and classmate Mandy Puckett (Farmland, Ind./Monroe Central) is 17th, separated by just one stroke. Williams carded an 82 on day one and is in a three-way tie for the spot. Puckett is tied with four other golfers with a round of 83.

Play concludes at the tournament on Monday with the final 18 holes.
