MIAMI BEACH, Fla.---The Cincinnati rowing team took advantage of good weather for the first time this spring in sunny Miami Beach, Fla. winning two of the day?s events in a three-way battle with Miami and Barry.
For the second week in a row, the second varsity eight boat of Rhonda Burke, Erin Liesenfled, Rachel Armstrong, Katie Herman, Lauren Baker, DaVonna Tucker, Marta Borazanian, Ashley Biershbach and Melissa Kleine won their race, posting a time of 7:31.6.
The Bearcats? varsity four was also victorious as Elizabeth Dulaney, Julie Flick, Sarah Downs, Taylor Brown, and Elizabeth Zacharias used a 8:29.15 tour to win. Cincinnati actually finished second in the race, but were awarded the top spot after the Bearcat boat picked up debris on the fins.
?As a team it was a good day for us,? said Bearcat head coach Tim Royalty. ?We have some things that we need to work on, but I think we will get them taken care of and continue to improve.?
Cincinnati returns to action next weekend competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) championship in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
