CHICAGO, Ill.---Cincinnati senior tennis player Khushchehr Italia (West Hills, Calif./The Buckley School) has been named to the All-Conference USA third team, the league announced on Wednesday.
Italia finished the 2002-03 season with a 20-17 overall singles record, including a pair of wins in the Conference USA Tournament. With the victories, she became just the second player in school history to earn 20 wins three seasons in a row, joining Kara Molony on an exclusive list. In doubles action, Italia posted a 19-19 record, teaming mainly with Lyndsey Molony at No. 1 doubles.
Joining Italia in being honored by C-USA were sophomore Lyndsey Molony (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) and freshman Jill Klauck (San Antonio, Tex./Robert Cole). Both players were honored with sportsmanship awards, presented to those student-athletes, coaches or teams that perform an individual act of sporting behavior or generally conduct themselves with a high degree of good sportsmanship.
