Brown Selected For New Zealand?s U22 Team

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- University of Cincinnati junior men?s soccer player Tim Brown has been selected to his native New Zealand?s Under-22 team and will represent his country in a match against Japan on May 21.
Brown was one of 22 players selected to New Zealand?s roster for the contest to be played in Kobe, Japan.
?I think it is the ultimate to be selected to play for your country and I am really excited,? said Brown. ?Its a large squad for such a short period of time, but I am hoping it will be opportunity that will lead to greater things, like the Olympic qualifiers early next year.?
?We are extremely happy for Tim,? said Bearcats head coach Hylton Dayes. ?He is very deserving of this honor and opportunity. He is an intregal part of our program here and I feel one of the best players in our conference. This honor reflects not only on him as a quality player, but also as a quality person.?
Brown finished the 2002 season ranked third on the squad with 13 points, after tallying six goals and one assist. For his play, Brown was named first team All-Ohio, second team All-Conference USA and third team All-Great Lakes Region, while also picking up co-most valuable player honors on the team.
