CINCINNATI, Ohio ? Former University of Cincinnati volleyball star and current assistant coach Stephanie (Meinig) Rosfeld will be the top aide to head coach Reed Sunahara starting in the 2003 season, a move up from the secondary assistant spot she held last year.
Rosfeld replaces Darrell McLean who left in April for a position at LSU. In her new role, Rosfeld will primarily be responsible for the coordination of recruiting, practice planning and scouting.
"I am very excited about this new role and the opportunity to serve the team in a larger capacity," said Rosfeld. "I am looking forward to continuing to bring the top volleyball talent in the country to UC."
After finishing her stellar playing career, Rosfeld joined the Bearcat staff as a student assistant in 2001, moving up to a full-time position last year. In her previous assignment, Rosfeld spent the majority of her time assisting with recruiting and gameday management, while fulfilling the audio-visual needs of the staff.
"Stephanie will add alot to the program in her new position because of her loyalty and because she knows the system," said Sunahara. "She is a tireless worker and very personable and I think she is ready for this challenge. I know she is going to be a great recruiter for us because she has a vested interest in the program."
As a player, Rosfeld was a two-time first team All-Conference USA selection and ended her career as the all-time leader in blocks in both UC and C-USA history. She also holds the Cincinnati record for most games played in a career and ranks ninth in kills.
