New UC assistant volleyball coach Josh Steinbach.

Cincinnati, Ohio -- Josh Steinbach, a member of nationally ranked Penn State?s volleyball staff the past two years, has been named assistant volleyball coach at the University of Cincinnati.

Steinbach will be responsible for all video operations for the Bearcats, while assisting with recruiting and practice planning and coordinating all of the squad's travel arrangements.

?Josh is a great addition to our staff and I think he is the missing piece to the puzzle for us,? said Bearcat head coach Reed Sunahara. ?Josh is a great coach who comes to us with alot of experience. He worked our camps this summer and has alot to offer the team. Josh is very personable and very knowledgable.?

Steinbach has compiled eight years of coaching experience, garnering a myriad of experience on the high school, college and club levels. At Penn State, Steinbach filled a variety of roles as both a volunteer assistant coach and a manager. Steinbach held on-court responsibilities during practice, while assisting with match preparation and strategy.

?I am really excited for the opportunity to be coaching at such a quality program,? said Steinbach. ?Cincinnati is a program on the way up and I look forward to helping push it even further. I am happy for the opportunity to be working with Reed and Stephanie (Rosfeld).?

While at Penn State, Steinbach also made his mark on the club level, serving as head coach and director of the Lions Pride Volleyball Club for a year and a half.

Prior to his stop at Penn State, Steinbach spent six years in California as a coach on the college, high school and club levels. His first head coaching job was at Santa Fe Christian High School during the 2000 season. Steinbach moved to the high school ranks after nearly two years as an assistant at San Diego Mesa Community College, where he also played two years of volleyball as an undergrad. For two seasons, Steinbach was a women's assistant coach, while also spending a year as a men's assistant.

Steinbach got his first taste of coaching beginning in 1995 as head coach of the Sunwest and North County Volleyball Clubs, a job he held through 2000. From 1997 to 1999, Steinbach was the head junior varsity coach at The Bishop's School.

Steinbach received his BA in English from Penn State in 2002. He and his wife Jennifer reside in Cincinnati with their four-year old son, Bennett.

Steinbach joins a coaching staff that includes Sunahara and assistant Stephanie Rosfeld. He will fill the role held the last two seasons by Rosfeld, with the latter assuming the top assistant slot left by the departed Darrell McLean.
