CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Cincinnati junior Jason Maxiell has been named to the Wooden Award Preseason All-American team.
It is the second straight year in which the 6-7 forward has appeared on the Wooden preseason team, which is comprised of candidates for the John Wooden Award as college basketball's player of the year.
Maxiell averaged 11.9 points and 6.7 rebounds last season and during his two-season career as a Bearcat has averaged 9.8 points and 6.8 rebounds.
Maxiell's selection marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that a Cincinnati player has been represented on the Wooden preseason All-American team.
Kenyon Martin was selected prior to the 1999-00 season and won the John R. Wooden Award that year. Steve Logan was on the 2001-02 list and finished as one of the top five finalists for the Wooden Award.
