Senior Chris Larbes fired a second round 72 Monday at the John Piper Intercollegiate.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio---The University of Cincinnati men?s golf team is in a three-way tie for seventh after 36 holes of the season-opening John Piper Intercollegiate, hosted by Bowling Green State University.

Senior Chris Larbes (West Chester, Ohio/Moeller) is leading UC, tied for 17th on the strength of a second round 72. Larbes added a first round 77 to finish day one of the tournament with a 149 and in a five-way deadlock for the position. Sophomore John Clodfelder (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) is just one stroke behind Larbes, tied for 22nd after a pair of 75?s. Freshman Justin Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller), struggled in his first collegiate round with an 83, but bounced back to score a 73 in the second round to end the day tied for 41st.

In the team standings, the Bearcats are tied with Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wright St. at 614. UC carded a first round 316, before turning in a 298 in the second round.

The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes, beginning at 9 a.m. from the Stone Ridge Golf Course in Bowling Green.
