Laura Lauder set a new UC record for assists in a three-game match with 58 against Robert Morris.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.?Senior setter Laura Lauder set another assists record and engineered a second team mark as the University of Cincinnati volleyball team rolled to its 11th consecutive win, topping Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon at the Penn State Classic.

For the second time this season, Lauder bettered her own mark for assists in a three-game match, registering 58 against the Colonials, one better than the record of 57 set against Butler on September 6. Lauder also led UC (12-1) to a new team-best with 65 assists in the match, while controlling an offense that hit a season-high .443.

Julie DuPont was the biggest recipient of Lauder?s assists, as she scorched Robert Morris (8-6) for 19 kills on a .316 hitting effort. She also added 15 digs for her 11th double-double of the year. Three other Bearcats registered double figure efforts in kills as Leslie Newell tallied 15 on .652 hitting, Maria Pongonis added 13, hitting .579 and Myanna Hellsten tacked on 10. Lindsey Garrison led all players with 16 digs, with Pongonis adding 10.

As was the case in last night?s victory over Brown, the Bearcats were extraordinary both offensively and defensively during game one. UC posted the highest percentage of the match in the first frame, hitting .556, while limiting the Colonials to .065 as the Bearcats stormed to a 30-13 triumph.

Game two was more of the same and ended with UC ahead 30-22. The Bearcats hit a solid .390 for the stanza, while Robert Morris came in at a .194 clip. The deciding game went to the Bearcats by a 30-20 margin, with UC holding a .400 to .143 hitting advantage.

Rachel Leitch led the Colonials with 10 kills, as Robert Morris hit just .138 for the match. Megan Bell paced the Robert Morris defense with nine digs.

Having now won 11 matches and 18 games in a row, the Bearcats will prepare for their biggest challenge of the season tonight at 7:30 when UC faces No. 11 Penn State. The 11-match win streak represents the seventh-best streak in school history, while the game win streak ranks fourth in school annals.
