Myanna Hellsten earned her first C-USA Player of the Week award Monday.

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- For the first time in her career, University of Cincinnati freshman Myanna Hellsten has been named Conference USA Co-Player of the Week.

Hellsten (Austin, Tex./St. Michael?s Academy) shared the honor with Louisville?s Lena Ustymenko after helping the Bearcats keep a lock on first place in the C-USA standings with weekend wins over Southern Miss and Tulane.

For the week, Hellsten, a middle blocker, averaged 2.75 kills, 1.62 blocks and 1.12 digs per game, while hitting a team-best .326. Against Southern Miss, she matched her career-high with 12 kills, then notched a career-high eight blocks and eight digs against Tulane.

This is the third time this season a Cincinnati player has been honored by C-USA, as junior outside hitter Julie DuPont (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) has twice picked up the award.

Riding a nine-match winning streak, the Bearcats came in just outside of the USA Today/AVCA top-25, ranking 26th in the this week?s poll. This marks the second straight week UC has been rated No. 26 after earning a national ranking of 25th for the first time in program history on Oct. 13.

The Bearcats return to action this weekend with a pair of road matches at Saint Louis and Memphis. UC will face Saint Louis on Friday (Oct. 31) at 7 p.m. CT, before travelling to Memphis for a 7 p.m. CT contest on Saturday (Nov. 1).
