CINCINNATI, Ohio---University of Cincinnati volleyball standout Julie DuPont (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team for her success on and off the court.
DuPont is a communications disorders major carrying a 3.96 GPA. The junior is leading Conference USA and ranks 12th nationally in kills per game. She has led the team in kills in all but four matches this season and has 21 double-doubles. Off the court, DuPont has been active with CPAWS, while also participating in Habitat for Humanity. Last spring, DuPont was selected to attend the NCAA Leadership Conference and she is the team's representative on the student-athlete advisory council.
This is the second straight year DuPont has been selected to the all-district first team. Last year, DuPont was named a third team Academic All-American. Her name will autmotically appear on the All-American ballot, with the teams being announced on Dec. 4.
This year?s team was voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, and be either a starter or key reserve for their team.
DuPont and her teammates are again ranked in this week's USA Today/AVCA top-25 poll, coming in at No. 23. The Bearcats, 26-3, will be the number one seed in the C-USA tournament which gets underway on Friday in New Orleans, La. UC will face the winner of No. 8 seed Houston and No. 9 USF on Saturday at 8 p.m. CT.
