OXFORD, Ohio ? The University of Cincinnati men?s swimming and diving team placed fifth and the women ninth at the Miami Invitational held over the weekend. Ryan Yearwood was the only double winner for the Bearcats.
Yearwood won the 50 freestyle final on Friday night in a time of 20.77 and added another victory on Sunday, capturing the 100 freestyle in 45.63. Scott Davison was the other Bearcat individual champion on the men?s side, winning the 1650 freestyle in 15:24.79. Enrique Bayata finished second in the 200 backstroke (1:51.03).
Emma Gustafsson was the only female to capture an individual victory for UC, finishing first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.54. She also finished tenth in the 100 breaststroke. Three other Bearcats finished in the top-ten for Cincinnati, with Kim Richardson placing sixth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.54 and Krista Fehring in eighth IN 2:37.09. Karen Brasier was sixth in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:11.50 and ninth in the 100 butterfly (59.09).
UC will take a break until December 18 when they compete in the Hawai?i Invitational. The Bearcats return home on Jan. 11 for an intersquad pentathlon at 1 p.m.
