Senior Chris Larbes is tied for 11th after one day at the Samford Intercollegiate.

SYLACUAGA, Ala.---Inclement weather cancelled the final nine holes of the day, but after one day of play, the University of Cincinnati men?s golf team is tied for eighth at the Samford Intercollegiate.

The tournament, originally scheduled for 54 holes, will be shortened to 45 holes after bad weather at Farm Links at Purcell Farms on Monday. Tee time for the final round of play is 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday.

After the first day of play, the Bearcats are being led by senior Chris Larbes (West Chester, Ohio/Moeller), who is tied for 11th with a score of 112. Freshman Geoff Newman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) is just two strokes behind Larbes, tied for 19th in the individual standings.

The team standings show the Bearcats in eighth with a first day score of 462. UC trails a two-way tie for sixth between Samford and Evansville by only four shots and are just eight strokes out of the fourth position held by Birmingham Southern.

Tennessee State holds the lead in the team standings, with a total of 438, while TSU?s Robert Dinwiddie holds a one shot lead in the individual standings with a score of 107.
