CALERA, Ala.---Junior Allison Couch (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) is tied for 45th, leading the University of Cincinnati women?s golf team in its spring-opening tournament, the Samford Intercollegiate which got underway on Monday. The event, held at Timberline Golf Course is complete through 18 holes, with the final 18 on tap for Tuesday.
Couch carded an opening round 83 to pace the Bearcats. Classmate Alysa Few (London, Ontario/Oakridge Secondary) is just two strokes behind Couch in a tie for 57th.
In the team standings, the Bearcats are in 16th, completing day one with a team score of 342. UC trails 15th place Belmont by just five strokes and is only 15 out of a top-10 position.
The tournament wraps up on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. CT start.
