CALERA, Ala.---Junior Alysa Few fired a final round 79 to end the Samford Intercollegiate tied for 44th, leading the University of Cincinnati women?s golf team in its first tournament of the spring season.
Few concluded the 36-hole event with a final score of 164. Freshman Sarah Bires was the second-highest finishing Bearcat, ending the tournament tied for 77th after a final round 88. Allison Couch had been the UC leader after the opening 18 holes, but a final round score of 93 dropped the junior to a tie for 79th in the final rundown.
In the team standings, the Bearcats finished 17th, with a team total of 698, trailing 16th place Austin Peay by 12 strokes. Jacksonville State won the team competition with a final tally of 613.
The Bearcats will waste little time before returning to action this weekend at the Northern Kentucky Invitational. The two-day tournament at Perry Park will get underway on Saturday.
