Junior Allison Couch is leading the Northern Kentucky Invitational after 18 holes.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.---Junior Allison Couch is leading at the Northern Kentucky Invitational after firing a career-best round of 72 in the opening 18 holes on Saturday.

Couch (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) has a one stroke lead in the event after day one of play at Perry Park Golf Course. Couch?s effort has helped UC to seventh place in the team standings of 18 teams, with a team total of 319. The junior is chasing her second career tournament title after winning the Notre Dame Invitational in the fall of 2002.

After Couch, junior Alysa Few (London, Ontario/Oakridge Secondary) is the second-highest Bearcat, tied for 30th with an opening round 80.

Play concludes at the NKU Invitational, beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
