HATTIESBURG, Miss.---Junior Allison Couch is tied for 19th, leading the University of Cincinnati women?s golf team at the Lady Eagle Invitational, hosted by Southern Miss.
Couch (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) opened play with an 81 in the first 18 holes of the day, then carded a 76 to end the day just four shots out of the top-10 and only 12 off the lead. Lisbeth Meineke of Georgia State holds the top spot after shooting a first day total of 145.
In the team standings, the Bearcats finished with a first day total of 681, including a 349 in the second round, UC?s second-highest round of the year to end the day 15th in the rundown. The College of Charleston holds the team lead at 604.
Trailing Couch for the Bearcats is junior Alysa Few (London, Ontario/Oakridge Secondary) in a tie for 47th. Few shot a 77 in the opening 18 holes, but then struggled to a season-high round of 90 in the final 18 holes.
The tournament resumes on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. CT with the final 18 holes of the event.
