KALAMAZOO, Mich.?For the second time in a week and the third time in her career, University of Cincinnati junior golfer Allison Couch has picked up a tournament championship, this time winning the Bronco Invitational which concluded on Tuesday. The event was played at the Moors Golf Club and was hosted by Western Michigan University.
After carding an opening round score of 74, Couch (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) picked up medalist honors with a final round 76 to win the title by five strokes over a trio of golfers. The victory comes less than a week after Couch won the individual title at the Krump Kup, held last Thursday at Boone Links in Florence, Ky. Couch picked up her first tournament honor in September 2002 when she won the Notre Dame Invitational.
In the team standings, the Bearcats finished sixth after a final round 335 gave them a 36-hole total of 666. UC finished eight strokes back of fifth place Oakland, while Western Michigan won the team competition with a score of 623.
Trailing Couch for the Bearcats was junior Alysa Few (London, Ontario/Oakridge Secondary) who placed 29th after a final round 82. Freshman Sarah Bires (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) also carded a final round 82 to finish tied for 35th.
The Bearcats will now prepare for the Conference USA Championship to be held April 19-21 at Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
