CINCINNATI, Ohio ? Four University of Cincinnati senior student-athletes have been initiated into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation?s oldest and largest academic honor society.

Women?s soccer players Rachel Lieberman and Kristina Wilson, women?s track athlete Jennifer Limle and cheerleader Allison Lockard all were initiated into the society last month.

Wilson was named All-Conference USA three times in her career and was named to the C-USA Commissioner?s Honor Roll all four of her years. She was recently awarded one of six postgraduate scholarships by C-USA.

Lieberman is a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner?s Honor Roll. As a junior, she was awarded the American Chemical Society Award for the highest achievement in analytical chemistry.

Limle is a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner?s Honor Roll as a member of the Bearcat cross country and track teams. She owns the second-best time in school history in the 1,500-meter run.

Lockard is a four-year member of the Bearcat cheerleading squad. After helping the coed team to a fifth-place national finish in 2003, she became the first Bearcat to compete nationally as part of the coed team and on the all-girl squad, introduced in 2004.

Phi Beta Kappa was founded on Dec. 5, 1776, by five students at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Since then, Phi Beta Kappa has evolved to become the nation's leading advocate for the liberal arts and sciences at the undergraduate level. Phi Beta Kappa elects over 15,000 new members a year from 270 chapters across the United States. Candidates are nominated for election to their chapters and cannot apply for membership.
