CINCINNATI, Ohio -- University of Cincinnati senior Jason Maxiell has been named to the Wooden Award Preseason All-American team.

It is the third straight year in which the 6-7 forward has appeared on the Wooden preseason team, which is comprised of candidates for the John Wooden Award as college basketball's player of the year.

Maxiell averaged 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds last season en route to earning second team All-Conference USA and first team NABC All-District 10 honors. During his three-season career as a Bearcat, he has averaged 11.0 points and 6.8 rebounds. He is ranked No. 35 on UC's career scoring list with 1,060 points and is second in blocked shots with 161.

Maxiell's selection marks the fifth time in the last six seasons that a Cincinnati player has been represented on the Wooden preseason All-American team.

Kenyon Martin was selected prior to the 1999-00 season and won the John R. Wooden Award that year. Steve Logan was on the 2001-02 list and finished as one of the top five finalists for the Wooden Award.
