Jack Nelson was named to the CICL All-Star Team.

CINCINNATI, Ohio --Jack Nelson, a rising junior on the University of Cincinnati baseball team, wrapped up his summer in the Central Illinois Collegiate League by earning a spot on the postseason all-star team, the league recently announced.

Nelson (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrensville South) hit .329 in 43 games, with four home runs and a team-high 32 RBI. He also added 11 doubles and one triple. Nelson?s batting average ranked sixth in the league, while he also was listed in slugging percentage (3rd-.490), RBI (3rd), hits (T-4th-51), doubles (T-7th) and on-base percentage (9th-.392). Nelson helped his team, the Twin City Stars, to the CICL Regular Season Championship and a runner-up finish in the post-season tournament. He was also named a starter for the league?s all-star game and earned a CICL Player of the Week award.

Nelson?s classmate, Drew Saylor (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) also had a successful summer in his second year with the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League. In 53 games, Saylor batted .264 with 15 doubles, one triple and one home run. He also drove in 24 runs during the summer. Saylor highligted his summer with a 5-for-5 effort on Aug. 1, while also adding three hits, including a pair of doubles, on July 19.
