SCHINIAS, Greece--Former University of Cincinnati rower Kelly Salchow and her USA teammates wrapped up the Olympic Games with a sixth place finish in the quadruple sculls on Sunday.

Salchow along with Danika Holbrook (Durham, N.H.), Hilary Gehman (Wolfeboro, N.H.), and Michelle Guerette (Bristol, Conn.) finished sixth in the final. The crew stayed in contact with the rest of the field for much of the race and was still in position to challenge for a top three position heading into the final quarter of the row. However, the field was just too much as it began inching away in the final 500 meters. Germany led the race from start to finish, clocking a 6:29.29 to win the gold medal. Great Britain finished second, followed by the Ukraine. The U.S. finished in a 6:39.67.

Salchow, who rowed as a member of the UC Club Team under current Bearcat coach Tim Royalty, also competed at the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia. In Sydney, Salchow and her teammates placed fifth overall.
