CINCINNATI, Ohio--The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will host its traditional Alumni Game in Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center on Saturday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m. A handful of former Bearcat players will be on hand to battle the 2004 edition of the Bearcats.
?The game will give everyone a chance to get some playing time,? said Bearcat head coach Reed Sunahara. ?It will be good for us to see where we are at after two weeks of practice. It?s also a fun time getting to see members of the program from the past.?
Among the list of former Bearcats expected to join this year?s crop of UC netters are three-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year Trish Ladusaw, along with last season?s top setter in C-USA, Laura Lauder.
The returnees will battle a Bearcat squad that features eight returning letterwinners, including senior outside hitter Julie DuPont, who last season became the first All-American in program history. The Bearcats will also benefit from the return of C-USA Freshman of the Year Myanna Hellsten and all-conference picks Lindsey Garrison and Rachel Torblaa.
The Bearcats open the 2004 season next weekend (Sept. 3-4) when they host the second annual Bearcat Invitational. UC will start the season, by battling Bradley on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. while also hosting Maryland-Baltimore County and Kent State on Saturday.
