Fans attending University of Cincinnati home football games at Nippert Stadium will find plenty of entertainment options surrounding the grid action.
UC has expanded tailgating opportunities and added a new Bearcat Kids Zone for its youngest fans, while Cattitude on the Commons is back as a great place for Bearcat fans to mingle. All will be up and running for Saturday's home opener vs. the Miami RedHawks. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
UC's two on-campus tailgating lots are sold out for the season, but over 400 spots remain on both a season or individual game basis at neighboring locations: Schiel School (Vine and Daniels streets), Bogart's (Glendora and Corry), Martino's (directly behind Martino's on Short Vine) and LaRosa's (adjacent to LaRosa's Pizza on Short Vine).
The Bearcat Kids Zone makes its debut in the new UC Baseball Stadium. The Kids Zone features inflatable games, music, face painting and carnival-style concessions.
Cattitude on the Commons, which takes place on the Sigma Sigma Commons, North of Nippert Stadium and adjacent to most of the parking garages, offers an alternative to tailgating. Features include reasonably-priced food and beverages, the performance of a live band and visits by the the Bearcat, the UC Band, and Cheerleaders.
All activities begin two and a half hours before each Bearcat home game.
Getting Into Nippert Stadium
The construction of the Richard E. Lindner Varsity Village will again limit access to Nippert Stadium from the East. However, the completion of the Tangeman University Center renovation and the Joseph Steger Student Life Center re-opens all access from the West. Spectators arriving from the Brodie, Library and CBA parking garages and other parking areas to the North and West will find new gates to utilize on the West (pressbox) side of the stadium, as well as the tunnel entrance to the field level, accessible from the Engineering Research Center. Access through Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center has been discontinued due to construction. Patrons parking East of the stadium should utilize the gates on the South side.
Parking
Cash parking is available in the Brodie and CBA garages off Martin Luther King Drive and the Sciota Jefferson Garage off Jefferson Avenue. Additional parking is available at the Eden Avenue Garage at the Medical Center campus off Martin Luther King Drive. There will be shuttle service between Eden Garage and Nippert Stadium.
