The University of Cincinnati women?s soccer team will continue its crosstown rivalry with Xavier University this Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Xavier Soccer Complex. The Bearcats then travel to Gainesville, Fla. for a match with the nationally-ranked University of Florida Gators on Sunday, Sept. 19.

ABOUT THE BEARCATS: The Bearcats got into the win column Sunday, Sept. 12 with a 2-0 triumph against Evansville.

Freshman Amanda Ryan scored the game-winner 0:43 into the match. The two goals scored against the Purple Aces doubled the season total to that point. Senior keeper Tracy Hale notched the shutout, number 13.5 for her career.

ABOUT THE MUSKETEERS: The Xavier Musketeers enter the UC match with a record of 1-5-0 this season. Xavier got its first win of the season against Texas State on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Colorado College Tournament.

Xavier is led by senior Lauren Giesting?s two goals, including the game-winner against Texas State. Xavier has been outscored 19-5 this season and outshot 88-62.

The Musketeers are coached by Dr. Ron Quinn, 2000 Ohio Coach of the Year, has racked up a school-record 129 wins in his 12 seasons with Xavier University.

UC-XU SERIES: The Cincinnati-Xavier rivalry has spanned 21 matches on the pitch. The Bearcats have dominated the series, holding an 18-3-0 record. UC has outscored Xavier 55-11 in the series and has won the last five matches between the rivals.

ABOUT THE GATORS: The University of Florida Gators come into the match against UC ranked No. 6 nationally by Soccer Buzz Magazine and are currently No. 11 in the NSCAA coach?s poll with a 4-1-1 record.

Leading the Gators offense is senior Stephanie Freeman, who has netted six goals and added one assist for 13 points. Senior Ashley Kellgren has scored four goals and added four helpers for 12 points.

Gators head coach Becky Burleigh, the 1998 NSCAA National Coach of the Year, is in her 10th season with the Gators and has compiled a 173-40-9 record.

UC-FLORIDA SERIES: The Bearcats and Gators have met on only one other occassion, in 2002, when UC defeated Florida by a 2-1 score.

GLENN NUMBER 10: Head coach Meridy Glenn currently ranks 10th in overall victories as a Division I head coach with 236. Her .613 (236-144-28) winning percentage in 21 seasons ranks 33rd all-time amongst Division I mentors.

?FRESH? FACES: A gang of newcomers has made its presence felt on the offensive side of the field for the Bearcats. Freshman Amanda Ryan, redshirt freshman Rachel Epps and sophomore first year player Ana Farmer have recorded the UC goals this season. Against Evansville, the Bearcats started four freshmen and two sophomores, energizing the squad and ultimately leading to a 2-0 victory.

C-USA POLL: The Bearcats have been picked to finish seventh in a preseason poll of Conference USA?s coaches. UAB, the 2003 regular season champions, has been selected to repeat, followed by Saint Louis, DePaul and Marquette.

HALE SHUTS ?EM OUT: With her recent 2-0 shutout win against Evansville on Sept. 12, senior goalkeeper Tracy Hale moved into fifth place on the all-time shutout list with 13.5. She is 7.5 shutouts away from Julie Williams (1981-84).
