RICHMOND, Ky.---Behind a career-best round of 70 by junior Justin Wilson and two rounds of 73, the University of Cincinnati fired a second round 295 to sit in 11th place at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic.
Wilson (Canfield, Ohio/Western Reserve) recovered from a first round of 82 to score the best round of his collegiate career, shooting two-under par for the round. Sophomore Geoff Newman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) fired identical rounds of 73 to end day one of the tournament tied for 27th with a score of 146. Wilson is tied for 48th in the rundown, while junior John Clodfelder (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) is tied for 58th. Like Wilson, Clodfelder overcame an opening round 81, to shoot a round two 73.
In the team standings, the Bearcats have a team total of 604, 11 shots behind 10th place Longwood. The host Colonels lead the team competition with a 36-hole score of 562.
The tournament concludes at the Arlington Golf Course on Saturday. The day will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
