RICHMOND, Ky.---Sophomores Justin Meyer and Geoff Newman each shot final round 71?s to lead the University of Cincinnati men?s golf team at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic. The tournament was held at the Arlington Golf Course in Richmond.
Newman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) finished the tournament tied for 21st after matching his career-best round in the finale. Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) advanced to 47th in the final rundown after securing a new career-best and finishing with a total of 226, just seven strokes back of Newman.
The final team standings showed UC in 10th place after carding a final round of 293, just one shot off of the team?s season-best. The Bearcats finished with a 54-hole total of 897, just nine strokes back of Longwood. Eastern Kentucky finished at 22-under par and won the team title with an 842.
The Bearcats are back in action Oct. 8-10 when they travel to the Mission Inn Collegiate Classic in Howie-In-The Hills, Fla.
