MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.---Freshman Hillery Wilson shot a career-best round of 71 to help the University of Cincinnati women?s golf team move up to ninth in the team standings Saturday at the Unlimited Potential Bay Tree Classic.
Wilson (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) is now tied for fifth in the individual competition with a 36-hole total of 147. Wilson is just one shot out of third and eight strokes back of leader Michelle Jarman of UNC-Wilmington.
Sophomore Sarah Bires (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) also had a successful day Saturday, shooting a season-best round of 78 to move to 54th in the day two rundown.
In the team standings, the Bearcats jumped three spots after a season-low team round of 310. UC has a two-day total of 628, only five strokes behind a tie for fifth place held by Marshall and Methodist College. Coastal Carolina holds the team lead with a score of 598.
The tournament will wrap up on Sunday with a shotgun start slated for 8 a.m. The event is being played at the Bay Tree Golf Plantation.
