Trent Cole recorded three sacks at East Carolina.

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- University of Cincinnati defensive end Trent Cole has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Bearcats' win over East Carolina on Saturday.

Cole helped the Bearcats hold ECU to 203 yards in total offense and a mere 11 yards rushing by making four tackles for loss and three quarterback sacks. The 6-4, 260-pound senior from Wilberforce, Ohio, recorded a safety when he sacked Pirates quarterback James Pinkney in the endzone.

Cole also had four quarterback hurries and finished with seven tackles, six of which were solo tackles. He leads the Bearcats in tackles for loss (four), sacks (three) and quarterback hurries (11) and is third in tackles (26).

Cole and his UC teammates will face the reigning C-USA Offensive Player of the Week when the Bearcats host UAB this Saturday. Quarterback Darrell Hackney completed 21 of 31 passes for 398 yards and three TDs to key UAB's 35-28 win over previously unbeaten Memphis last Saturday.

Kickoff for Saturday's game at Nippert Stadium is 7 p.m. The game will be Family Night with coupons which may be redeemed for a two-for-one ticket purchase available at area Skyline Chili locations.
