Cross Country Travels To Notre Dame Invitational
Meet features defending men's and women's NCAA champs

The University of Cincinnati cross country teams travel to South Bend, Ind. for the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 1 at the Burke Memorial Golf Course.
SCOUTING THE FIELD: The Notre Dame Invitational features one of the most competitive fields in an invitational meet in the nation this season. The meet will feature schools from the Big Ten, Big East, Conference USA, ACC, SEC, PAC-10, Big 12, and MAC. Defending men's and women's Division I national champion, Stanford University, will compete along with Division III men's national champ, Calvin College.
MAY THE SCHWARZ BE WITH YOU: The UC men won the team title at the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 17. In the lone home meet of the season, Bearcat runners finished in the top eight spots, led by sophomore Kevin Schwarz. Schwarz took home the individual title in 26:12.11, followed closely by seven teammates. Just 32 seconds separated the first and eighth-place finishers.
LIMO LEADS THE WAY: The women's squad also took home the team title at the Queen City Invite. Senior Ruth Limo won individual honors in 18:58.35, her second win in three races this season. Limo also won the Flyer 5K in Kettering, Ohio on Sept. 4. Also finishing in the top five were junior Karen Berling (4th in 19:30.71) and sophomore Cristy Doll (5th in 19:46.77).
CINCINNATI AT THE NOTRE DAME INVITATIONAL: The last time the Bearcats participated in the Notre Dame Invitational was in 2002, when the women's team finished seventh out of 16 competing squads. Ruth Limo placed fifth among 129 runners, covering the course in 18:38. The men's team last competed in the Notre Dame Invitational in 2000, finishing 20th of 24 teams at the event. The top finisher for the Bearcats was Chris Reis, who placed 24th with a time of 24:46
COMING UP: The Bearcats will run in the competitive All-Ohio meet on Oct. 8 in Deleware, Ohio.
