Freshman Hillery Wilson earned co-medalist honors at the Huskie Classic.

HUNTLEY, Ill.---For the first time in her career, freshman Hillery Wilson earned medalist honors as she shared the top spot at the Huskie Classic, which concluded on Monday at Whisper Creek Golf Course.

On the strength of a final round 78, Wilson (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) was the co-medalist of the tournament along with Lisa Bailey of Northern Illinois. Bailey recovered from an opening round 82 to post a tournament low round of 75 on Monday. Round one leader Nicole Puch of Loyola-Chicago shot an 81 to slip to third in the final rundown.

The Bearcats ended the tournament in second place, but fell to 26 shots behind team champion Northern Illinois, after the Huskies posted an incredible round of 316 to pull away from UC over the final 18 holes.

Four of the Bearcats? five golfers placed in the top-20, including senior Allison Couch (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) and sophomore Sarah Bires (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville). Both players shot final round scores of 86 to tie for 13th with scores of 170.

Wilson?s win was the first by a Bearcat golfer since Couch captured the Bronco Invitational in April 2004.

The Bearcats will return to action on Oct. 18-19 when they travel to the Great Smokies Women?s Golf Championship in Waynesville, N.C.

DAYTON, Ohio---Sophomore Mya Pronschinske shot a career-best round of 80 to lead the University of Cincinnati women?s golf split squad at the Dayton Fall Invitational.

With the balance of the team competing at the Huskie Classic, the four remaining Bearcat women?s golfers turned in a third place team finish at Dayton. Pronschinske (Cochrane, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain) finished tied for second in the six-team tournament after shooting two below her previous best. The round of competition was the first of the fall for Pronschinske. Melissa Juve of Dayton took medalist honors with a round of 77.

In the team standings, UC shot a total of 344 to finish third in the six-team field. Oakland?s A squad took the win with a score of 326, bettering Dayton A by five shots.

Sophomore Emily Elliott (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula) was the second highest finisher for the Bearcats, tying for 12th after carding an 86.
