The University of Cincinnati cross country teams will compete in the 50th annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships, hosted by Ohio Weslyan University. The men??s race will start at 2 p.m. and the women will take off at 2:45 p.m at the Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio.

SCOUTING THE FIELD: Nearly 40 squads, representing each level of NCAA and NAIA competition, run in the All-Ohio meet. Ohio State, Kent State and Miami highlight the Division-I entries, while Malone, Ashland, Denison and Otterbein represent the Divsion-II, D-III and NAIA particpants. Kent State was last year??s men??s champion, while Miami took the women??s team title. Kent State??s Matt Cornwell will return to defend his individual crown, and Miami??s Kristen Wrede is the top returner for the women, placing second last fall.

SCHWARZ ON COURSE: Following his second career individual title at the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 17, sophomore Kevin Schwarz was the top finisher for the Bearcats at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct.1. Schwarz placed 82nd in a field of 193 of the nation??s best runners, helping UC to a 16th-place finish in a meet featuring defending-national champion Stanford and squads from the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Big East and SEC.

RUTHIAN EFFORTS: Senior Ruth Limo has finished no worse than third in each of the first four meets of the 2004 season, winning individual titles at the Flyer 5K on Sept. 4 and the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 17. At the Notre Dame Invite, Limo finished third in 18:13, leading the Bearcats to a fourth-place finish in the highly competitive meet.

CINCINNATI AT THE ALL-OHIO: The inaugurual All-Ohio meet was held in 1955. The Bearcats first team championship came in 1995. UC took the team title again in 2001. Former Bearcat Chris Reis is one of only 10 men to win multiple titles and one of only five to win back-to-back (2000-2001) individual championships. The UC men finished second by only 10 points last year behind Kent State. The women placed fifth. Andy Wietmarschen was the top finisher for the men, placing fifth in 26:18.6. The women were led by Ruth Limo, who finished seventh in 18:34.2.

COMING UP: The Bearcats will run in the Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 16 in the final tune-up for the Conference USA Championship on Oct. 30.
