CINCINNATI, Ohio ? The University of Cincinnati's men's and women's basketball teams will usher in the beginning of basketball practice for the 2004-05 season with Skyline Chili Bearcat Midnight Madness.
The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center. Doors will open at 10 p.m.
Fans will get a chance to meet the teams in an autograph session, which will begin at 10:15, and see the Bearcats' first workout in the first allowable moment for practice--seconds after midnight. A dunk contest and other skills exhibitions will be featured as well as performances by the UC Cheerleaders, Dance Team and Band. The men's team will conduct a 20-minute scrimmage following the slam dunk contest.
Admission is free.
The men's basketball team will be looking to make a 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Bob Huggins, who begins his 16th season at UC. The women's basketball Bearcats, led by 19th-year mentor Laurie Pirtle, will be shooting for their eighth straight postseason trip.
