Sherry Slye made 10 saves in UC's 1-0 loss against Louisville

CINCINNATI, Ohio ? The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team had its two-match winning streak snapped by rival Louisville today (Oct. 17) at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats fall to 4-10-0 on the season, 1-5-0 in conference play, with the 1-0 loss, the Cardinals' (11-3-1/5-1-1) season-record ninth shutout of the season.

Louisville's Lauren Podvin netted the lone match of the goal at the 14:49 mark following her own corner kick. Podvin found Monique Gjini who returned the pass and Podvin, left unmarked, blasted a shot over the outstretched hands of Cincinnati goalkeeper Sherry Slye (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon).

"I thought Sherry Slye played great," said UC head coach Meridy Glenn. "I thought she kept us in the game."

Slye did just that, making a season-high 10 saves. She was peppered with shots throughout the match, as Louisville got off 19 shots to UC's seven.

Louisville played aggressively, as shown by the 18-6 foul margin held by the Cardinals.

"We've got to take care of business as far as Conference USA," commented Glenn.

The Bearcats welcome C-USA foe East Carolina to Gettler Stadium on Oct. 22 for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
