HOPKINSVILLE, Ky.---Junior Adam Fluty shot a career-best round of 69 to lead the University of Cincinnati men?s golf team on day one of the F&M Bank Intercollegiate.
Fluty (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) finished the opening 36 holes tied for 13th with a total of 142. His opening round of 69 was three shots better than his previous best and the lowest by a Bearcat player since Neil Lykins carded a 68 in October 2001.
Sophomore Joe Young (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) opened the day with a 76, before firing a season-best 72 in round two to end the day with a score of 148. Young is tied for 54th overall.
In the team standings, the Bearcats are tied for 15th with Lipscomb with a two-round score of 595. The duo trails 14th place Dayton by just two strokes. Austin Peay, the host school for the tournament, leads the team standings by three strokes over New Orleans and is four better than third place Tennessee-Chattanooga. The Governors put up a first day score of 561.
The tournament, being held at the Links at Novadell will conclude with the final 18 holes on Tuesday, with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. CST.
