UC-USF SERIES: The Bearcats are 5-3-0 all-time against USF, winning three straight prior to last season. The Bulls pulled out a 2-0 win in 2003.
BABY BEARCATS: A gang of young newcomers has made its presence felt for the Bearcats this fall. True freshmen Amanda Ryan, Cara Alldred, and Andrea Haney, along with redshirt freshman Rachel Epps and sophomore first-year player Ana Farmer have combined to score seven of the Bearcats? 11 goals this season. Freshman Gigi Ernst has started each match, while Alldred has started 15 with Ryan and Haney starting 12 apiece. True freshman goalkeeper Jen Doerflein has made four appearances, including three starts. The influx of young talent portends a bright future for Bearcat women?s soccer.
SPREADING IT AROUND: With Lisa Stephens? goal against Miami (Ohio) on Oct. 15, nine different Bearcats have now scored this season, with freshmen Amanda Ryan and Andrea Haney leading the squad with two tallies each. Heading into the final weekend of regular season play, Saint Louis has clinched the regular season championship and the number one seed in the conference tournament. The league?s biggest surprise has to be Louisville. Picked by the league?s coaches to finish 13th, the Cardinals have sewn up a tournament birth and sit in fourth place in the standings.
