IRVING, Texas ? Senior defender Renee Balconi (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) has been selected to the All-Conference USA second team by the league's coaches. A tri-captain this season, Balconi anchored a Bearcat defensive unit that allowed only 16 goals in 10 conference matches.
Balconi started all 18 matches this season and tallied one assist. A three-year starter, she has played in every match during her stint at Cincinnati, starting 60.
"It says a lot about her and her development over the years. She's made the commitment to the program and she's a great athlete," said head coach Meridy Glenn. "It's a great compliment to her to be recognized by my colleagues."
Balconi helped mold a young, inexperienced backline into a solid defensive unit this season. She helped repel countless opponent attacks with steady on-ball defense and her tackling ability.
