Bearcat Swimmers Fall At Ohio State
Bayata wins two events for UC

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The University of Cincinnati swimming teams fell to Ohio State today at Peppe Aquatic Center. The Buckeyes topped the Bearcat men, 153-97, while the UC women dropped a 167-92 decision.
Ann Degenstein continued her strong early-season swimming, winning the 200 individual medley in 2:12.78 and finishing less than two seconds behind OSU's Gulsah Gunenc for second in the 100 butterfly. Elyse Perez, Gerdien de Jong and Paola Rivas each won events for the Bearcats. Perez won the 200 backstroke by just over four tenths of a second, finishing in 2:10.21. de Jong won the 50 freestyle in 24.93, while Rivas took the 500 freestyle title in 5:18.44.
On the men's side, Enrique Bayata took the 100 and 200 backstroke titles in 52.16 and 1:53.30, respectively. David Gustavsson won the 200 free in 1:43.46, and Carlo Piccio won the 400 individual medley with a 4:06.82.
UC returns to action on Nov. 19-21 as they travel to Bloomington, Ill. for the Indiana Invitational.
