DuPont Named Academic All-District

CINCINNATI, Ohio---For the third consecutive season, University of Cincinnati volleyball standout Julie DuPont (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team for her success on and off the court.
DuPont is a communications disorders major carrying a 3.97 GPA. The senior ranks second in Conference USA and 20th nationally in kills per game. DuPont, who this season became UC's all-time leader in career kills, has also reached double figure kills in 37 straight matches. In 2003, DuPont was named UC's first ever volleyball All-American, while also being tauted as the C-USA Player of the Year. Off the court, DuPont has been active with CPAWS this year serving as co-president. In the fall of 2002, she was inducted into UC's Legion of Excellence and in the spring of 2003, she attended the NCAA Leaderhip Conference.
This is the third straight year DuPont has been selected to the all-district first team. Last year, DuPont was named a second team Academic All-American. Her name will autmotically appear on the All-American ballot, with the teams being announced on Dec. 2.
This year?s team was voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, and be either a starter or key reserve for their team.
DuPont and her teammates will wrap up Conference USA play tomorrow, when they travel to No. 23 Louisville. The match from Cardinal Arena will get underway at 7:30 p.m.
