Bearcats 4th, 8th After Day One at IU Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana -- The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams stand in 4th and 8th place, respectively after one day of competition at the Indiana University Invitational. The host Hoosiers lead both men's and women's meets, being held at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.
Three individual men scored for the Bearcats. Freshman Marcel Kleiner finished 12th in the 50 freestyle in 21.53 and 16th in the 500 freestyle in 4:49.18. Junior Ryan Yearwood finished 6th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.21. Junior Carlo Piccio took 10th in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 4:42.82.
The men's 'A' and 'B' 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams each finished 6th and 8th, respectively. The 400 medley teams finished in 3:28.67 and 3:42.73. The 200 freestyle teams finished in 1:24.67 and 1:30.43.
On the women's side, UC's 'A' and 'B' 200 freestyle relay teams took 10th and 16th, respectively , finishing in 1:40.04 and 1:45.54. The women's 'A' and 'B' 400 individual medley relay teams finished 13th and 15th, respectively, in 4:02.70 and 4:18.21.
The second day of competition takes place tomorrow, Nov. 20, with preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m.
