Cincinnati men, women finish 4th and 8th, respectively

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana -- The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished 4th and 8th, respectively, at the Indiana University Invitational. Host IU won both men's and women's team competitions.
Individual finalists for UC included senior Carlo Piccio, juniors David Gustavsson and Ryan Yearwood and freshman Marcel Kleiner.
Piccio scored in three events, placing 6th in the 400 individual medley in 4:28.23. Piccio also finished 9th in the 1650 freestyle (16:19.91) and 10th in the 500 free (4:42.82).
Gustavsson finished 6th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.26. He also placed 9th in the 100 butterfly in 51.04.
Yearwood scored in two events, finishing 6th in the 50 freestyle in a season-best 21.21, and placing 13th in 51.41 in the 100 butterfly.
Also a three-event scorer, Kleiner finished 11th in the 1650 freestyle (16:54.50), 12th in the 50 freestyle (21.53), and 16th in the 500 freestyle (4:49.18).
Junior Ann Degenstein was the top women's
scorer, finishing 5th in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:06.37.
The Bearcats will travel to Denver, Co. for training on Nov. 24-28.
