Julie DuPont is an Academic All-American first team member.

CINCINNATI, Ohio---For the third time in her career, University of Cincinnati volleyball senior Julie DuPont (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) has been honored as an Academic All-American. This year she was named to the first team of the 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America team as selected by CoSIDA.

DuPont is a communications disorders major carrying a 3.97 GPA. A two-time Conference USA Player of the Year, DuPont concluded her career as UC's career leader in kills and is the school's only volleyball All-American after earning third team honors last year. She was also named to C-USA's 10th anniversary All-Decade Team. Off the court, DuPont has been active with CPAWS this year serving as co-president. In the fall of 2002, she was inducted into UC's Legion of Excellence and in the spring of 2003, she attended the NCAA Leaderhip Conference.

Last year, DuPont was named second team Academic All-American, after earning a third team honor in 2002.

This year?s team was voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, and be either a starter or key reserve for their team.

DuPont and her teammates finished the 2004 season with a 22-11 record, including a win in the season finale against Dayton.
