Janet Carl was named interim head coach of the UC men's golf team.

CINCINNATI, Ohio---University of Cincinnati women?s golf coach Janet Carl will take on the added responsibilities of interim head men?s golf coach, the University announced today. The appointment is effective immediately.

Carl has been the head women?s coach for the past two seasons, while also spending a year as an assistant coach for both programs. She will take over the men?s program that had been led by Kerry Sahms, who announced his resignation earlier this month.

?I am excited about the opportunity to be involved with both of the teams here at UC,? Carl stated. ?I am looking forward to what I think we can accomplish with both teams.?

During her time at UC, Carl has helped the women?s team show consistent improvement, while guiding current senior Allison Couch to medalist honors at three tournaments. This fall, another of Carl?s pupils earned the top spot at an event as freshman Hillery Wilson was co-medalist at the Huskie Classic, hosted by Northern Illinois.

Both teams will open their spring seasons at the beginning of March with the women?s team competing in the East/West Collegiate Golf Invitational on March 4-5 and the men playing in the Emerald Coast Collegiate March 5-6.
