Micah Harvey had eight assists in her first start of the year.

CINCINNATI, Ohio ? Four Bearcats scored in double-figures and Alabama State was held scoreless for the first 11 minutes of the game as Cincinnati cruised to a 73-41 win over the Lady Hornets on Saturday afternoon at Fifth Third Arena.

ASU (2-5) did not dent the scoreboard until a free throw made the score 20-1 with 9:09 left in the first half. ASU missed its first 12 field goal attempts and committed 12 turnovers before Latille Ross scored a putback with 5:55 left.

UC (4-5) used 11 three-pointers to lead the way to a season-high 73 points. Karen Twehues hit one of her four triples to start the game and Micah Harvey, making her first start of the season, hit another for an 8-0 lead.

Leslie Knoch and Twehues then each converted tradition three-point plays to go up 14-0 with 13:30 left. Anne Stephens, Bellva May and Emy Ogide all scored to cap the 20-0 run.

?We executed much better offensively,? said head coach Laurie Pirtle. ?We still have to work much harder, but we took a step forward today.?

Twehues finished with a game-high 18 points, making 4-of-9 from behind the arc. Slaughter scored 12, with all her points coming on triples. Leslie Knoch added 13 and Ashley Brown recorded 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Harvey responded to the start with five points, eight assists and three rebounds. UC scored 35 points off 23 ASU turnovers and committed just 13 of its own, only four in the second half.

Crystal Kitt earned a double-double for ASU with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Ross had eight points and 11 rebounds.

UC was ahead 22-3 when Ross scored ASU?s first basket. That started a 6-1 run by the Lady Hornets, capped by two scored by SWAC Player of the Year Kitt, that cut the lead to 23-9 with 3:10 left.

The Bearcats responded with the next eight points, getting treys by Toni Slaughter and Twehues. Slaughter added another three-pointer just before the half for a 36-14 UC lead.

The Lady Hornets opened the half scoring eight of the first 11 points to close to 39-22. The Bearcats countered with a 11-2 run, capped by two Slaughter three-pointers.

UC used a 10-2 stretch to push the lead to 62-32 with 5:37 remaining. Twehues scored eight points in the run.

The Bearcats close their pre-holiday schedule by hosting Loyola Marymount on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena.
